Spread:

Distance on the fixed A-frame from foot tip to foot tip.

Short tripod - 63" (1600 mm)
Regular tripod - 109" (2769 mm)
Extra Tall tripod - 158" (4013 mm)

Weight:

Total weight approximately 65 lbs., (30 kg.) distributed between five duffel style bags for transport.

Individual components:
Feet:
Pointed with hardened stainless steel tip. Multiple carabiner holes on foot with additional chain slots to chain or tie legs together.

Head:
Fixed A-frame with 60 degree included angle. Third leg able to rotate perpendicular to fixed A-frame 360 degrees. Multiple carabiner holes on head, (10).

Legs:
Upper leg adjustable for height every 6.5" (165 mm). Lower leg fixed in height and removable to create short tripod, or can be added to create large or offset tripod.

Materials:
All structures with the exception of stainless steel tip in foot, are made from aircraft grade aluminum, (6061, heat treated and aged T6 condition). All tubing is .25" (6.35 mm) wall thickness, all plate .5" (12.7 mm) thick. Wren Industries keeps on file a record of material chemical composition, and heat treatment certification, from the aluminum manufacturer. Pins for assembly are military style, positive lock. Double shear strength: 18,000
(8165 kg).
A word about chain:

Chain slots in the feet are for 5/16" ( 7.94 mm) size chain. We do not supply chain with the Vortex as end users have different needs. For instance, a wilderness rescue team will be hard pressed to carry chain and will likely opt for the use of webbing to tie the feet together. Industrial rescue may want to use steel chain. If a department has a specific request, we will be happy to price out a particular type of chain at a most reasonable cost. We do offer as one option a set of three short chain pieces with bolt hangers on the ends. These can be bolted to rock in wilderness rescue to not only keep the legs from spreading, but also anchor the Vortex to the ground. Please make no mistake- the legs must be anchored in such a way as to prevent spreading or skidding unintentionally. It is up to the end user to determine which method is best for them, the chain slots may help in this endeavor. Each foot is also equipped with two carabiner holes for added flexibility.
